What started as a textbook donation drive has grown into an international nonprofit with deep roots in Cameroon and strong support in the United States. Over the years, we’ve impacted the lives of more than 18,000 children through:

  • Textbook donations and literacy campaigns
  • Inclusive education for children with disabilities
  • Teacher training and school infrastructureTeacher training and school infrastructure
  • Bilingual learning materials (English & French)
  • Skill-building programs for rural youth
  • Citizen-led learning assessments (Djangirde)
  • Community marathons and fundraising through the Toghu Marathoner

Our Story

It Started in Ngondzen…

The Amom Foundation was born from the lived experiences of our founder, Afowiri “Kitz” Fondzenyuy, who grew up in the remote village of Ngondzen, Cameroon—where access to education, healthcare, and opportunity was almost nonexistent. Kitz witnessed firsthand how the lack of basic school supplies, trained teachers, and inclusive environments kept thousands of children locked out of their dreams. Determined to change this, he turned compassion into action—and in 2006, Amom Charity (now Amom Foundation) was founded.

What We Do

  • In 2011, our founder took to the streets of Houston for a 5K run to raise funds for schoolchildren in Cameroon. That moment sparked the birth of the Toghu Marathoner movement—an initiative blending endurance sport, cultural pride, and activism. From skydiving fundraisers to the upcoming Yaoundé Culture Marathon, every mile run has helped fund classrooms, bridges, and inclusive learning centers in underserved regions.

  • Today, the Amom Foundation is more than an organization. It’s a family of volunteers, educators, medical professionals, creatives, and dreamers united by a single goal: “To create a world where no child is left behind due to poverty, disability, or geography.” With your help, we are building Cameroon’s first Autism Center, organizing citizen-led assessments (CLA), and running for rural access to education—one campaign at a time.

  • Every book, every race, every volunteer hour tells a part of this story—and we’re just getting started. Be a part of the next chapter.

  • Are you a foundation, company, school, or individual who believes in transformative impact? Let’s join forces. We collaborate with institutions, government bodies, diaspora communities, and businesses to scale meaningful change—from building schools and running assessments to hosting community festivals.
