From Cameroon to Sydney: AMOM Charity Launches Global Athlete Support Initiative

For years, AMOM Foundation founder and cultural ambassador Afowiri Kizito Fondzenyuy, known globally as the Toghu Marathoner, has used marathon running as a platform for impact. From earning a Guinness World Record in Tokyo while wearing traditional Toghu attire to completing marathons across six continents, his journey has always been about more than crossing finish lines.

It has been about creating opportunities, inspiring communities, and proving that purpose-driven dreams can change lives.

Today, that mission enters a new chapter.

Through a partnership between AMOM Foundation and the Toghu Marathoner Initiative, two talented Cameroonian athletes — Wirba Marygrace and Foimi Justilin — are preparing to compete at the 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon, one of the prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors.

While Cameroon continues to produce world-class athletic talent, many promising runners face significant barriers to international competition. Limited sponsorship opportunities, travel costs, race logistics, and access to global networks often prevent talented athletes from reaching the stages where they can fully showcase their abilities.

This initiative is designed to help bridge that gap.

With race entries already secured through the Abbott World Marathon Majors Charity Program, fundraising efforts are now focused on supporting athlete preparation, travel, accommodation, documentation, and other essential expenses required to take these athletes from Cameroon to Sydney.

But this initiative is about more than athletics.

As part of AMOM Foundation’s growing commitment to neurodiversity advocacy, Marygrace and Justilin are also becoming part of a new generation of Autism Awareness Champions. Through their participation, they will help amplify awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for children and families affected by autism while demonstrating the power of sport as a platform for social impact.

Their journey reflects AMOM Foundation’s belief that athletes can be more than competitors. They can be ambassadors, role models, and advocates for causes that matter.

The long-term vision is equally ambitious. AMOM Foundation aims to build a sustainable pathway that enables more talented African athletes to access global marathon opportunities while developing future Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Finishers from Cameroon and beyond.

Supporters of the campaign are helping launch more than a marathon journey. They are helping build a movement that combines athletic excellence, cultural pride, autism advocacy, and opportunity creation.

As a token of appreciation, donors may receive exclusive campaign gifts, including signed posters featuring the Toghu Marathoner’s historic runs in Antarctica and on Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as signed copies of the 2026 Guinness World Records edition featuring his record-breaking achievement.

This is bigger than one race.

It is about creating pathways where none existed, inspiring the next generation, and showing what becomes possible when talent, purpose, and community support come together.
