A new chapter for AMOM Foundation

01 / OUR CAUSES

Understanding changes everything.

Helping families find answers, supporting educators and creating communities where neurodivergent children belong.

WHY INCLUSION MATTERS

No family should have to navigate uncertainty alone.

For a parent, uncertainty can be one of the hardest parts of raising a child whose development or way of learning is different from what others expect. Questions may begin at home, continue at school and become more difficult when reliable information or qualified support is hard to find.

AMOM works to increase understanding, challenge harmful misconceptions and help communities see autistic children as individuals with dignity, strengths and support needs.

The work is rooted in the experience of our founder, Afowiri, and in a much older family lesson: no child should be left outside the classroom.

COMMUNITY ACTION / 2026

We have already begun the work.

In 2026, AMOM reported autism education reaching approximately 350 people. A separate awareness activity at Bafut District Hospital engaged 57 postnatal women. Marathon-linked fundraising also supported family and educator awareness activities in Bamenda. The 57 and 350 figures are presented separately because the audiences may overlap.

OUR WORK TODAY

Awareness is already reaching families and educators.

In April 2026, an AMOM outreach at Bafut District Hospital engaged 57 postnatal women. In May, another initiative reached approximately 350 parents, guardians, educators and community members with autism-related education. These audiences are reported separately and are not added into a combined total.

The Kilimanjaro campaign supported teacher training, parent education and learning guidance in Bamenda. The proposed Inclusive Center builds upon these activities rather than replacing them.
