COMMUNITY-LED SOLUTIONS

Progress begins with the people closest to the challenge.

For communities whose livelihoods depend on everyday movement, a reliable crossing can mean the difference between reaching school or staying home, taking produce to market or losing a trading day. AMOM works with local associations to address these practical barriers.

The foundation’s work also recognizes that opportunity is economic. Agricultural producers benefit when local harvests can be processed, packaged and marketed with greater skill and confidence.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Why the projects connect

A bridge can help a farmer reach a market. Training can help that farmer make more of what they grow. By linking physical access and practical knowledge, AMOM approaches community development as a connected effort, not a list of isolated projects.

COMPLETED / NOVEMBER 2025

Two bridges connecting Ngondzen.

In Ngondzen, two deteriorated crossings made the rainy season especially difficult. Children, farmers, traders and families needed safer connections between communities. Working alongside the Ngondzen Development and Cultural Association, AMOM helped complete the Tsenmah and Ndzenkov bridges, commissioned in November 2025.

The bridges are more than structures: they connect households to school routes, farms, markets and everyday services. Support associated with Afowiri’s 2024 Tokyo Marathon campaign contributed to this project. Their continued value will depend on community stewardship and maintenance.

THE WORK DELIVERED
COMPLETED / AUGUST 2026

Turning local potatoes into new skills.

In August 2026, eleven farmers completed a practical workshop on turning Irish potatoes into potato chips. The training covered production techniques, food safety, quality control, packaging and marketing—skills intended to help participants add value to familiar local produce.

The training is a completed activity. Turning a new skill into a sustained business is a separate challenge, which is why follow-up mentorship, equipment needs, pricing and routes to market deserve continued attention. The published figure is eleven farmers, not eleven established businesses.

PEOPLE & OPPORTUNITY
THE WAY WE WORK

Built with people, not only for them.

Sustainable results begin with listening to the people most affected by a challenge. Projects become stronger when they combine local knowledge, the right partners and a clear understanding of what can realistically be delivered.

Our process emphasizes participation, responsible implementation and learning from outcomes so support continues beyond a single activity.

HOW WE WORK

Four steps from need to lasting opportunity.

01

Listen with communities

02

Agree practical priorities

03

Mobilize partners and skills

04

Deliver and report results

THE ROAD AHEAD

From completed work to the next chapter.

Building on the training means exploring mentorship, market connections and practical tools for local entrepreneurs. AMOM has discussed a three-month mentoring initiative; its delivery remains a proposed next step.

01 / COMPLETED

Safer community connections

Two bridges commissioned in Ngondzen in November 2025.

02 / COMPLETED

Processing skills for farmers

Eleven farmers trained in potato-chip processing and marketing in 2026.

03 / PROPOSED

Enterprise mentorship

Explore structured business support and market connections after training.

04 / FUTURE PRIORITY

More locally led opportunities

Develop new partnerships around needs identified by community members.

“What matters is not simply the bridge we build or the skill we teach, but the doors those achievements open for everyday life.”

AMOM Foundation — our approach to impact

PARTNERSHIP MAKES PROGRESS POSSIBLE

Bring your expertise to the next stage.

Skills alone do not guarantee a business. Technical experts, suppliers and market partners can help turn practical training into sustainable opportunities.

THREE WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Help make everyday opportunity possible.

01 / GIVE

Support the work

Every gift supports AMOM’s work and future opportunities. Choose how you would like to support communities and families. Every contribution helps sustain meaningful action.

02 / PARTNER

Build a stronger response

Institutions and professionals can contribute skills, resources and long-term project partnerships.

03 / VOLUNTEER

Contribute your time

Practical expertise, communication, outreach and community collaboration all have a part to play.
